Bishop Jerome leads Theophany Services in Greater Boston Area

On the weekend of January 18-19, His Grace, Bishop Jerome, led the festal divine services for Theophany of our Lord in the diocesan parishes of Greater Boston. On Saturday, January 18, the feast of Theophany Eve, His Grace celebrated the Divine Liturgy and Great Blessing of Waters in St. John the Wonderworker Churchin Framingham, MA, co-served by parish rector Archpriest Yaroslav Belikow, Deacon Alexander Kurenkov, and Deacon Alexander Doohovskoy (cleric of St. Xenia Church in Methuen, MA).

On Saturday evening, Bishop Jerome led the festal All-Night Vigil and patronal feast day of Holy Epiphany Church in Boston, as well as a Blessing of Waters. Co-serving were parish clergy: rector Archpriest Victor Boldewskul, Priest Thomas Reske, Protodeacon Alexander Jarostchuk, and Deacon Victor Ganson.

On Sunday morning, the Divine Liturgy at Holy Epiphany Church was followed by another Blessing of the Waters. Despite these three celebrations of the Blessing of Waters, demand for Holy Water was still high, and the clergy prepared for a fourth blessing on Monday.

The Liturgy, co-served by the above-mentioned parish clergy, was well-attended, with almost 300 people packing the church. The faithful were communed from two chalices. After the service, the festal luncheon was held in the hall of a nearby Greek church.

On Sunday evening, Bishop Jerome served Vespers in Greek at Agia Skepi (Holy Protection) Church in Boston. On Monday morning, the feast of the Synaxis of St. John the Baptist, His Grace celebrated Matins and Liturgy as a priest and in Greek, with some English and Slavonic.
